A Shoemaker’s Son Goes Barefoot: Ferragamo Resort in Bali?

It looks like there will be a Ferragamo fashion resort in Sanur soon. Ferragamo’s hotel people are just completing negotiations on a four hectare plot of beachfront land on Mertasari Beach. We’ve got Bulgari in Bali already, Ferragamo soon, so I expect Versace won’t be far behind.
Salvatore Ferragamo was a shoemaker whose name became a global luxury brand – - a brand which is now one of the few fashion houses in Italy that is still family-owned and not part of a big luxury conglomerate. His son Leonardo (above), an astute businessman, founded the family’s hotel business Lungarno Hotels. Now Lungarno is about to close the Sanur deal. I happen to know which plot of property Leonardo’s snapping up (see aerial image below). Also see a bad snapshot of the site (above).

So it seems the old adage is correct. The shoemaker’s son will go barefoot. In this case, barefoot on the sands of Sanur. Leonardo is a keen yachtsman, by the way. Will we be seeing his speedy sailing yacht anchored off Mertasari beach someday soon? Stay tuned for more.
Phuket of course has the Aman resorts and the Four Seasons, VERY pricy, but if you can afford it none better. Katie Yacht
The site is not too fantastic because the sea water is affected by the river near the site.
Ferragammo should open the hotel at the Bukit area where all the big brands are present.
I wondered about the river effluence, too. Not only the sea water but also the beaches must be affected. In the rainy season, the river will bring down all of the garbage from upstream, which will wash up on the beaches.
You’re probably right that the Bukit would make more sense. Could be a neighbour to Bulgari. Then invite Versace to make a hotel there, too. Then Gucci, Pucci and Fiorucci. It would be like a large theme park: LuxuryLabelLand.
in Bali you walk on the beach, and no walk more romantic than Sanur, and you swim in the pool, therefore the previous comments on water quality make no sense to me. With Ferragamo coming to Bali, they will surely add another jewel to Bali’s crown of top top fantastic Hotels. Unlike the Bulgari, which lacks style and sensitivity for Bali’s heritage, Ferragamo’s legendary taste for beauty and style will be a unique addition to Bali’s image.
i agree that Sanur beach has a very romantic panoramic view.. no doubt for it.
it just a matter how the hotel has to manage the garbage from the river upstream.
i am currently assisting 4 hotel developments throughout bali (sanur, bukit, jimbaran and ubud). soon there will be more hotels i will assist in Bali (nusa dua, kuta, karang asem and turtle island)..
bali will become more attractive with those new branded hotels, including the big brand from USA
