The Beautiful Life of Bruno Piazza (19 January 1941 – 28 October 2011)
BRUNO PIAZZA: MASTERPIECE
My beloved husband Bruno Piazza died at home in Bali, at dawn on Friday the 28th of October, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Bruno lived an extraordinary and beautiful life, and (not surprisingly) he died a remarkably beautiful death. He was not an artist, he was Art. His life was his masterpiece. Now he has completed and signed that masterpiece, with a flourish, and it is beautiful indeed. It is perfect.
Please forgive me, and forgive Bruno, for our shortcomings, and for any oversights or mistakes we may have made in the past, and for anything we ever did or said that caused you or anyone else any pain or suffering. The evening I dispersed Bruno’s ashes in the Indian Ocean, I saw a new crescent moon. That bright sliver of a smile in the sky was the sign of a clean, happy, new beginning for us all.
Hic et nunc was Bruno’s mantra. I am beginning to understand it better and better.

Mes sincères condoléances .

Thanks, to you all for posting your natural, earnest messages. Much appreciated. And I’m very certain Bruno would smile a big grin under his round glasses, knowing that you care.
Suzi, i was so blessed to have known Bruno when in the late 1990′s he was in Miami briefly working as a buyer for a Belgian man named Alain. i was Alain’s realtor and so came to spend a good bit of time with Bruno and the other buyer as we searched for the perfect store location. Bruno had such a special joy in every form of his art; design, his personal style, photography, and most importantly, his life. i am deeply sad for your loss and for not ever seeing Bruno after his Miami days. For years i received his special New Year’s emails and always thought that one day i would travel to Bali to see him immersed in his element and to meet you. His smiling eyes behind his round glasses will always be in my memory.
I have just found out about the death of Bruno and am shocked and sad beyond measure. I worked with and for him from 1974 for 25 years or so and he was charming funny and generous. When I arrived in Belgium he took me under his wing and helped me over all the administrative and practicall difficulties of moving to another country. He was there (very late!) at my wedding and he was a true friend. I am diminished by his death, but pleased that he found happiness in Bali. God bless you Bruno!
