Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen (OSKA) of Seattle has been raking in awards lately, and they’ve just won another. The American Institute of Architects has named them Firm of the Year for 2009.
Glad to see my long-time fave firm get the glory, they deserve it mightily. One of my first posts on this blog was about OSKA’s Montecito Residence (an award winner). And we all surely recognise their Delta Shelter (above), in an image that has become an icon in design circles and is recognised around the globe.
I normally wouldn’t bother posting an image that already has so much exposure, but it felt apropos today. Why? Because of the snow. My partner Bruno Piazza has just arrived in Brussels where it’s snowing. Going directly from sweltering Bali to snowy Brussels is a tough transition.
Maybe he should take shelter in a Delta Shelter there. The interior of this one (above) is anything but cold, it’s delightfully comforting. Would be a marvelous house for Brussels. Or anywhere else for that matter. Bali?
